@NAT - Did you know there are eight security features on the £20 note?

The 'Bank of England Banknotes' app is an interactive touch screen guide for checking your banknotes. It enables users to view all current Bank of England banknotes and their security features. For example: did you know there are eight security features on the £20 note?

Using its interactive touch screen guide, it enables users to view all current Bank of England banknotes and their security features. It also provides advice on what to do if you think you have a counterfeit note. The Bank would like people who are frequent users or acceptors of bank notes to forward news of the app to work colleagues and friends and encourage them to download and use it.

For more information go to the Bank of England website: www.bankofengland.co.uk/banknotes/Pages/banknoteapp

Alternatively, to find the app directly on the Apple or Google Play stores search for ‘Bank of England Banknotes’.

New Crimestoppers rural crime campaign
Crimestoppers, the national crime-fighting charity, is teaming up with local volunteer committees, law enforcement agencies and rural partners across the country to launch an innovative, social media campaign to help fight the crimes that affect the livelihood and stability of our rural communities.

This campaign urges the public to help protect rural communities from the damaging effects of crime.  Rural theft cost the UK an estimated £42.3m in 2012 and can have far reaching consequences for communities in terms of the impact that this can have on the food chain, deliveries and supermarket prices.

@WEL - Bus shelter vandalised in Wellesbourne

A notice board and bus shelter have been vandalised in Stratford Road WELLESBOURNE sometime after 8pm on Wednesday 16th April.

Incident number 250 of 17/04/2014 refers.

Please call 101 or Crimestoppers if you can give any information on those responsible.

@WEL - Nottingham Knockers

We have received reports of doorstep sellers in SNITTERFIELD  who are generally from the Nottingham area and claim to be ex offenders trying to make a living from selling items such as dusters and household cleaning products. Invariably they do not have the required pedlar's licence to do this and often use pressure selling techniques.

If you are in any doubt about the authenticity of any ID that may be presented or are suspicious about any person who comes to your door please politely decline their services and discreetly phone Warwickshire police on 101 so that local officers can carry out the required checks.

Launch of first superfast broadband cabinet

CSW Broadband has launched its first superfast broadband cabinet in Snitterfield, a picturesque village in South Warwickshire. This is the first of 51 cabinets that will start to go live from April 2014. Further cabinets will follow from July and October this year. As anticipated, the rollout of superfast broadband has been accelerated and many cabinets have been brought forward from their original go-live dates. The project rollout will bring superfast speeds of a minimum 24Mbps to almost 45,000 properties, with many more properties achieving speeds of 2-23 Mbps. The latest map shows the rollout plans to 7-digit postcode level, including which areas we estimate will achieve superfast and which may fall below that level (based on the distance from the cabinet). There are still some areas that are awaiting additional funding, but this is actively being sought and the Government has offered the project £3.68m, subject to match funding being found.

@WAR - Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service Shaping the Future - Consultation Survey

Dear all,

On 6th February 2014 Warwickshire County Council agreed the medium term budget for the next four years. This included a total savings target of around £2.4 million for Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service.  The impact of reducing the Fire and Rescue Service budget has informed a review of how we deliver our services. This has given us the opportunity to see how we can:

·         Improve our initial response to life risk emergencies across the county with fewer firefighters (life risk incidents are defined as presenting immediate or high risk threat to human life).
·         Improve the availability of our fire engines.
·         Match the number of fire engines to the changes in demand and risk during different times of the day.
·         Save money.

On March 24th we launched a 12 week period of consultation. This consultation will cover the first two years of a four year plan to achieve the required savings. A two stage approach will allow us to review the changes made in the first two years, and use the outcomes of that review to inform our proposals for stage two of our plan. This will also enable the second stage of the plan to be developed within the next Integrated Risk Management Plan for 2017-2021.

Stage One: In the first two years (2015 – 2016) of this plan we will propose changes to the way that we use whole-time Firefighters, the way that we spend our money on prevention activity and a review of our strategic management team.

Stage Two: In the final two years (2017 – 2018) of the plan we will propose some further changes which may include a review of the Retained Duty System. A second consultation process will be completed in 2016 for stage two of the plan.

It is within this context that we invite you, as a valued partner, to consider the proposed changes forstage one of our plan and to give us your thoughts and ideas. Please visit our consultation web pages at www.warwickshire.gov.uk/fireandrescue where we have placed a survey for you to complete and some supporting information including; demand analysis, proposed new response model profile, financial profile and demographics that we have used to develop these proposals.  Your comments and ideas will help us to develop our Integrated Risk Management Action Plans 2013-2017.

@WAR - WCC Consultation with voluntary sector groups and volunteers

Dear friends and colleagues

Warwickshire County Council funds several voluntary sector organisations to provide voluntary groups and volunteers with advice and support. These groups are:
Warwickshire Community and Voluntary Action (WCAVA)
Warwickshire Children and Voluntary Youth Service (WCVYS)
Warwickshire Race Equality Partnership (WREP)

We are reviewing the types of advice and support that we need organisations to give to groups and volunteers in the future. To do this well, it's really important that we hear the views of as many groups and volunteers as possible. There are several ways you can do this:
  1. Join us on Friday 11th April for a morning session to talk about your views on the sort of advice and support you need in the future. Book here: http://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/warwickshire-county-council-voluntary-sector-consultation-event-tickets-11020587875?aff=es2&rank=0&sid=d5f84499bbe811e38ae612313d225df9 Lunch is on us!
  2. Complete our online questionnaire by visiting https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/WCCVCS and answering the questions. The survey should take no more than 10 minutes, and is open until 24th April.
If you would like to come to the workshop but have transport difficulties, please contact Jane Coates on 01926 456103. She will endeavour to assist you in joining in.

Kind regards
