@SOU - Police Urge Residents To Be Vigilant After Suspicious Activity In Southam

Police are urging residents to be vigilant after suspicious activity in Southam.

One incident happened on Tuesday 11 February at around 10.30am on Linley Road.

A man knocked on the door of a property and began asking the homeowner suspicious questions. He claimed to be doing a questionnaire for the government about television licenses. He asked the homeowner if she had any televisions, smart phones, laptops or tablets in the house.

Another suspicious incident occurred yesterday (Wednesday 12 February) at around 11am in the Linley Road area.

A dark blue vehicle, thought to be a Volkswagen Polo or Golf, which had a Latvian number plate, was driving slowly and acting suspiciously. It was being driven by a man with two women on board.

The two women then got out of the vehicle and attempted to climb over the fence of a property in Linley Road.

If anyone has information on these two incidents, please call police on 101 quoting incidents 202 and 169 of Tuesday 11 February. Any other suspicious activity should also be reported using the non-emergency number.

Alternatively, information can be given to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org

@WAR - Be aware that "Nottinghamshire Knockers" are back in the area

Please note that Kineton NHW and Shipston SNT are reporting a recurrence of the "Nottinghamshire Knockers" (a door to door sales team suggesting they are ex prisoners with household items i.e. dusters at inflated prices). Their visit often appears to be followed by a spate of burglaries particularly targeting the elderly and vulnerable.

If you have a visit please report it by calling the police (101) and advising your local NHW coordinator, Previously the police have been successful in sending them back to Nottingham.

If in doubt, call the company from which they have been sent to check if you should be expecting anyone.

@WEL- Nuisance Calls about burglar alarms

A Kineton resident has received a telephone call from an Intruder Alarm company attempting a hard sell along the lines of, ‘was he aware that alarms that are connected to the Police are no longer answered by the Police’.
The caller was calling from a withheld number
It is likely that the Kineton area is being targeted and this is almost certainly a scam; it may be a front for a free alarm system which is tied to a very expensive maintenance contract.

Regards,

Kineton Neighbourhood Watch
