Staying safe and well over winter

To help residents stay safe and well during the winter months, Warwickshire County Council and partners have produced a Winter Wellness guide.

The Winter Wellness guide features a range of information and links to services and support for people who may need help at this time, particularly those who may be isolated or vulnerable.

Countdown to Christmas with Child Friendly Warwickshire

The festive season is here, and it's all about bringing joy, togetherness, and creating special memories.

To make it easier to find things to do, ways to show kindness and tips to keep families healthy and safe, Child Friendly Warwickshire’s online advent calendar has it covered. 

On day 7 of our advent calendar, we are helping you to avoid Christmas present scams, where the goods ordered never arrive! Open door number 7 to find out more.

Warm Welcome @Warwickshire

Warwickshire libraries set to offer a warm welcome this winter

Warwickshire County Council’s library service, along with other community powered venues across the county will once again be offering a warm welcome this winter. Warm Welcome locations have been established across the county for those who are struggling with energy costs or who are feeling vulnerable or isolated.

Firefighters issue festive electrical safety advice!

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service is asking residents to be mindful of electrical fire risks in the run up to Christmas as people begin to prepare themselves for the festive season.

The advice comes during Electrical Fire Safety Week 2023, where this year’s topic is using electrical goods properly and safely in the run up to and during Christmas.

Sponsors confirmed for new Tales from the Riverbank exhibition

Heritage and Culture Warwickshire has announced that Warwick Boats and the Leam Boat Centre are headline sponsors of a new upcoming exhibition  - Tales from the Riverbank - about the history of Warwickshire’s rivers, canals and waterways at Market Hall Museum in Warwick.

Living Well website helps Warwickshire people to stay healthy, happy and independent

Warwickshire County Council is encouraging people to find out more about services and support to help them stay safe, get involved in their communities and find information to help them live well – particularly as they get older.

The Living Well website brings together a wide range of information and services from the Council – aimed at adults – in one place.

Warwickshire Country Parks service takes steps to preserve rare habitat

The Warwickshire Country Parks service has led a comprehensive work drive at Ufton Fields Nature Reserve, a site that was brought back under the management of Warwickshire County Council earlier this year.

The initiative marks a significant step in preserving and enhancing the chalky habitat which can only be found on a handful of sites in Warwickshire.

Crime Prevention - Christmas Menu

Have yourself a safer little Christmas

Christmas seems to be just around the corner now, so Warwickshire County Council and partners are sharing some top tips and advice to make sure you stay safe in Warwickshire this festive season.

Throughout December on the Safe In Warwickshire social media channels, the County Council will be sharing crime prevention advice and links to support services to help keep yourself, your vehicles and your property safe, so you have yourself a merry little Christmas (as Frank Sinatra once sang).

Warwickshire site to play key part in West Midlands Investment Zone

Warwickshire is set to play a central role in the new “Investment Zone” programme announced by the Chancellor Jeremy Hunt last week, as part of his Autumn Statement.

The West Midlands will have an Investment Zone focused on advanced manufacturing, linked to creating more than 30,000 jobs and attract £5.5bn of investment over 10 years to 2034. The West Midlands Zone joins another 11 zones in the UK focused on a variety of sectors.

Make a clean sweep for fire safety!

As winter approaches, Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service (WFRS) are urging homeowners to get their chimney swept by a registered chimney sweep.

In the last three years WFRS has attended 112 chimney fires with the majority occurring in the autumn and winter months between October and March.
